Location
Tulum, a little town of about about 15,000 inhabitants located some 40 miles - 60 kilometers south of Cancun. The next international airport is located in Cancun. Tulum is a largely growing area with an international airport to come, which even acelerates developement.
The Tulum archeolocial site is one of the main attractions for non divers in Tulum and the whole of the Rivera Maya. The Tulum ruins are a mere 10 minute drive away from the Hotel - Dive Shop.
The Tulum archaeological site is relatively compact (compared with many other Maya sites in the vicinity), and is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites. Its proximity to the modern tourism developments along the Mexican Caribbean coastline (the "Riviera Maya" surrounding Cancún) has made it a popular destination for tourists.
Daily tour buses bring a constant stream of visitors to the site. The Tulum ruins are the third most-visited archaeological site in Mexico, after Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza. It is popular for the picturesque view of the Caribbean and a location just 128 km (80 miles) south of the popular beach resort of Cancún.
The Hotel - Dive Shop is located on a quite side street within minutes walking distance to the Tulum main road and downtown area. Along the main road a number of restaurants, shops and bars can be found. Tulum is its own Municipio allowing to get all permits in Tulum. Located within Tulum center are HSBC and Scotia banks.
Tulum beach is in a league of its own with long and white sand beaches just a 10 minute drive away that invite to sun bath, snorkel and swim in the blue and clear Caribbean Ocean.
A large number of cenotes are located in the Tulum area such as Maya Blue, Naharon, Temple of Doom, Tortuga, Vacaha, Grand Cenote, Abejas, Nohoch Kiin and Carwash cenotes and cave systems. These Cenotes are within minutes driving range from the Hotel - Dive Shop.
